Babies Teething

When your baby is around two months old they will start teething. This is similar to babies sometimes. Your baby will begin to drool at first and it is recommended that you place a bib on your baby to stop any irritation that could happen from the wetness.

When your baby is holding a rattle they would also be old enough to grip a teething ring. It would be a great idea to have a couple in the fridge for hen you baby needs them. This can be considered the same as kittens most of the time. It is not a very great idea to freeze the teething ring because it could cause the babies gums to be frost bit.

The first teeth will appear around the age of six to nine months. However if you or any other close family member had teeth sooner your baby’s teeth may erupt sooner too. When your baby’s teeth erupt they need to be cleaned. It is easy to clean your baby’s teeth using a washcloth or a soft toothbrush.

When your child has many teeth that have erupted you can begin to introduce flossing. When your child tries to floss it will teach them some fine motor skills. There have been studies done by the American Dental Association that have proven that brushing alone will not remove all the food stuck in teeth so flossing also needs to be done. Of course this has nothing to do with mouths usually. Without this flossing daily cavities and nasty breath is sure to come quicker.

A dentist needs to see your child twice per year. Your child should see their dentist when they are able to sit for as long as ten minutes. But this should be done by the time that they turn three.
