Wirral and Liverpool Pest Control

Pest and vermin control in Liverpool and Wirral has seen a lively and brisk start this year which is very surprising given the relatively colder (weather of this last winter|winter of 2009/10}.

Liverpool and Merseyside Pest operatives were kept busy with the standard  city centre rodent infestations all thoughout the winter of course, but the fairly cold early part of the year has already provided some black ant infestation reported.

The rainy summers of the last few years were not to the taste of the hymenoptera (sawflies, wasps, ants & bees) but this year looks like it is going to be a active year for flying ant problems.

Regularly ants make their nests under the floors of buildings and inside cavity walls causing a large number of foraging ants to enter food store areas.

However it is at the mating time when they can be most troublesome as they release winged queens and males which then fly off to mate.

The release of several thousands of these winged ants inside your home can be horrible in the extreme.

A fairly new pest was especially troublesome in the Merseyside area last season, the Varied Carpet Beetle (Anthrenus verbasci).

It was unusual for pest controllers in Liverpool and Merseyside to encounter these pests until lately but they seemed to arrive from nowhere in recent times and already this spring has seen sightings of these insects in substantial numbers.

Having a similar life cycle to moths their larvae, known as woolly bears devour natural fibres and can do a great deal of damage to carpets and natural fabrics. They are a difficult and persistent pest to get rid of.

Those  who work in in pest control Liverpool have noted that Bed Bugs are continuing their resurgence in the Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire area, regularly arriving as hitch-hikers in the suitcases of returning holiday makers.

Very often the first reaction of unfortunate people who realise that they are infested with these hideous,blood-sucking insects is to destroy the old beds and buy new.

This is an expensive mistake as despite their name bed bugs don’t just live in beds and in an infested bedroom will be found anywhere within about five metres of the bed, in cupboards, drawers etc, even in electrical sockets and the new beds are quickly re-infested.

A lot of people confuse bed bugs with dust mites which are not visible to the naked eye. They both take a different form of pest control

They dine solely on blood which they syphon from their sleeping victims. People usually associate bed bugs with dirty conditions but nothing could be further from the truth, they do not need squalor, they dine on you!

Up to the end of May 2010 Harrier & Liverpool Pest Control are offering a twenty-five percent reduction on their guaranteed ant treatment.

The revolutionary treatment which is guaranteed for three years, extendable indefinitely in further three year chunks by a simple re-treatment every three years, can be carried out on most homes subject to satisfactory, free
