How to check you have everything ready for the birth

If you have a new baby coming then you have a lot of things you need to take care of even before the little bundle of joy arrives. As a baby needs 24/7 care at first then you have to make sure you buy everything you need now, otherwise if you discover you need something at 2am when the baby is crying and you are stressed to the max, then you won’t be able to get it and that could cause problems. That means you need all the gear for changing their diaper, you need clothes, toys, and even something like a baby ear thermometer because if you think your baby has a temperature you need to check that out asap.

I think the best way to check you have everything you need is to speak to some new mums in your local area. They will be happy to tell you about all the things they wished they had after the birth, and the things they did buy which were used all the time. The added bonus is that you may actually get given some of their old gear, or you might be given the opportunity to buy it at a really reduced rate. Unless they are planning to have more kids then often all the gear you need for a new baby just becomes clutter as they grow up and don’t need it anymore, so people are glad to get rid of it.

Something that often catches new mothers out is the amount of diapers they will need, babies can go through as many as 8 a day when they have just been born, so that catches people unprepared. Plus if you are using reusable diapers then make sure you have enough to last for a few days so the first ones you put in the wash have had time to dry out.
